Session 7: Gozran 30 - Desnus 12.

The party hired Lini to go find magical crafters for magical items, and she used some seed money to increase magical connections.

Ivan was approached by Gary, a homunculus, sent by the green hag they rescued from the time stop. She created Gary to be a crafter for the party.

The Revenant

While hanging out at the Burrows, the party was attacked by Cecelia Roberts, not a revenant, having been created as an undead by Zura. Cecelia found out that Nyanta was travelling with Lady Belmont, and sent one of her highwaymen to Cheliax to report this to Wrath.

Cecelia was more than a match for Nyanta, but the party together defeated her and some of her highwaymen (others fled). Nyanta reached out to Wimbert to make sure that he was okay (he was), and they questioned a captured enemy.

They learned that Red Blade Roberts performed some service for Zura, and in exchange Zura was to bring back her sister. In the process, Zura learned that a Revenant was a viable undead type, which taught them that Nyanta was still alive. Cecelia came to hunt him.

Gathering information from Zainab and Tiffania's parents, they learned that a powerful god was sealed in another dimension by an ancestor of the Greenleaf's. He did so using 7 black flames which were the key to opening it back up.

When Graham Greenleaf's wife got radiation sickness, he adventured for a long time to develop a cure. He did so, but came back too late. They tried to resurrect her, but cold not. Sandalphon and Graham sought the help of Janka Worldgazer, who informed him that his wife was trapped in the dimension with the god, and beyond his aid.

But Graham sought another seer, who informed him that because his ancestor created the seal, he could do a ritual to break it. The seer was Zura in disguise, who tricked Graham. Sandalphon and Lady Moonblade tried to disrupt the ritual, but Zura was too powerful. At the last moment, Graham regained mental control, and struck Zura, disrupting the ritual. Knowing she couldn't complete it, Zura left, but she had learned that she might open the gate with 7 black flames instead.

The ritual left Graham transforming into a monster. He gave his sword to Sandalphon, and asked him to give it to Wimbert and inform him that his father was dead, which Sandalphon did.

The Summoning Chambers

In an attempt to gain more power, the party went to the summoning Chamber, taking Clara instead of Ivan, because Ivan was busy sending flowers to Lady Moonblade's parents.

They encountered a book golem who played a card game that no one could beat him at. Together they beat him, identifying that no ONE could beat him- that the five of them (with Bianca) could. They then completed several challenges requiring teamwork. The four of them (Lady Belmont, Tiffania, Clara, and Nyanta) completed a ritual to create a companion spirit, in the form of a Silvanshee, named Binx.

The party returned to Deepreach to regroup.

Session 6- Gozran 28-30

The Guildhall Heroes finished studying their books from the mirror dungeon, and sent Sanders to scout out the Demiplane of High Magic. They leaned there that there was a monster called the Nothic dressed up like a wizard in the plane.

Going there, they first found labrynths made of iron and stone with sections missing shaped like golems. They discovered that the Exploiter had been creating walls of iron and walls of stone then fabricating them into golem bodies.

Inside they found a freezing hallway with a dead changling, and an endless bottle spewing mist that turned into snow, which was being used to create simulacrums of changelings to assist with spellcasting with an elaborate ritual room designed to boost caster level well into the 100's. They learned that Golems don't have "unbeatable" spell resistance, just spell resistance in the 100's which is unbeatable for all intents and purposes, but not for the Exploiter. By the same token, antimagic auras simply lower caster level by a hundred or so, which is enough for most mortals to be affected, but not the exploiter.

They also found a dead titan with blood money and magic jar spells, indicating the exploiter was using a trick for free wishes, and also found a trapped Efreeti who he was forcing to grant wishes to him. The party freed the Efreeti in exchange for 3 wishes.

The nature of the plane caused spell durations not to tick down, and they discovered the Exploiter's cohort, trapped in layers of anti-magic in a permanent time stop effect, forced to craft item for eternity. The party was able to free the green hag from the time stop, and the hag escaped the plane.

They also found several trapped Encastori Inevitables who had come after the Exploiter for having too high of a caster level. Unfortunately, he was high enough to defeat them and trap them in forcecages forever.

Eventually they found the exploiter, who had been turned into a Nothic- an aberration cursed by the gods for delving too deeply into arcane secrets. He had created an artifact to emulate all his caster level exploits, but it ended up turning him into a Nothic with extended uses.

Normally nothics are shells of their former selves, but this one still had many of his buff spells still active, because the duration never counted down. The party was able to defeat him and obtain his crown

Sanders agreed to take the crown as the rest of his "share" of loot, so he could help destroy it by turning it over to the Inevitables, and have it count as a mythic trial for him. The party left, having gained much wealth.

Upon their return, Lady Belmont expressed concern about Nyanta's refusal to follow her orders as Party Leader. Lini attempted to mediate the conflict.

Session 5: Gozran 21-28

The party began exploring the mirror dungeon, where they found that from the beginning they were being watched by a scrying sensor. The dungeon involved a series of magical puzzles, including a tunnel traversed by reversing gravity, a tunnel which appeared to be straight but was actually bent and used mirrors to create the illusion, and an area requiring them to go into a mirror of life trapping in able to get past.

The party was eventually able to find a mirror device that created temporary copies of items put inside, that could be used to duplicate temporary items (like potions) or enhance permanent items, though at the risk of damaging the mirror.

They eventually got to the end of the dungeon where the Mirror Wizard had set up a series of mirrors to create an infinity effect, making it difficult to traverse the room or identify which wizard was which. Using a confusion effect he disabled Tiffania and Lady Belmont, while Nyanta found him with stealth, and Ivan countered his spellcasting and his echolocation senses with silence, eventually beating him.

They raided his treasure, and learned the secrets of his mirror of life trapping, which they used to free a Deva Angel(who taught them one of the saving throw feats), a Nymph (who gave Tiffania her favor), a Unicorn, and Sanders, a human ninja who had gotten caught in the mirror- which they were able to recruit as a guest.

The party then went home to use a week of downtime.

Session 4: Gozran 3-21

The party took 5 days of downtime where Tiffania taught Nyanta how to swashbuckle.

After that time, Tiffania, Rikkan, and another wizard were brought in for questioning by Ulfric Lawspeaker of the Illumanatti. Ulfric questioned Tiffania about some thefts from various shops in town committed by rats or rat-like creatures.

Afterwards, they decided to investigate the thefts in order to ensure that their names were cleared. Lady Belmont investigated "Stay Out" where she learned that You had been drugged and the shop burgled, but that other cats weren't so lucky. Investigating the ally near dead cats they found a dead ratling with some drow poison and an ingredient list.

They followed the directions on the ingredient list back to the ratling caves, were they found evidence of battle between Duergar with dogmoles and a purple worm. Moving forward they were attacked by tiny ratlings in tunnels too small for them to follow. They pushed forward to a final confrontation with the ratlings who were using scrolls to supplement their natural magic powers.

Clearing away rubble in the back of the cave they found Grig Wormslayer, a Duergar wizard with his feet eaten off, kept prisoner by the ratlings. They were forcing him to craft scrolls for them to enhance their magical powers.

Grig would not come back up to the surface, but they helped him into some of the upper layers of the Caves before the Tunnels. Grig had the crafting path and he agreed to craft magical items for the party to pay off the costs of regeneration magic and the replacement of his own magical spellbooks and equipment that were lost to the ratlings. He also taught the party either Scribe Scroll or Cyper Magic as a bonus feat.

As Grig was a neutral evil duergar, Lady Belmont found it to be her duty to convert him away from his evil ways, buying his regeneration and spending a 8 days with the party down in the tunnels in discussion and sermon with the wizard, risking him growing angry and losing their only crafter. However, their arguments were successful, and Grig adopted a more neutral stance on the world. While he is not a guest, he does stay on as an NPC crafter for the party, crafting things at standard cost.

The party turned in the stolen merchandise to the illumanatti to clear their name, and got ready for an expedition to the Mirror Dungeon. They entered the tunnels and rested outside the entrance to the dungeon- ready to explore.

Session 3: Pharast 23 - Gozran 3

The party took a week of downtime.

During this time Lady Maria Belmont was approached by an old man with dementia, wanting help with menial daily activities, one of which included scraping poisonous mold off his shed and giving it to a chilaxian alchemist.

At the end he asked Lady Belmont to move a large boulder from the road, where she found a glowing white flame. When she returned it to the old man, he revealed himself has Charity the Generous, another child of the Vampire Queen Zura. Once Avarice the Greedy, he had turned from his mother, each of whose children bore a black flame powered by their sin. When he became Charity the Generous his flame turned white, and his mother's power diminished.

He states that after Lady Belmont's humble day, and her expression of humility and turning from the path of evil, that instead of being Pride, she could be Humility the Modest. Were she to recover her black flame from Zura, she could turn it white, diminishing her mother's power further. Were they able to redeem their other siblings, Zura's power could be broken.

Meanwhile, Tiffania Moonblade ran into an old acquaintance, Zaynab Saderi, who had been turned into a man after mistakenly using a cursed belt. Tiffania told her of her backstory and of Bianca's curse. Zaynab informed her that Starblaze was one of a pair of swords, the other was Crimson Glaze wielded by a mercenary commander. Together they were said to unlock something, but what they unlock and where it is was unknown. Supposedly an oracle of Venklevore who was gifted with prophecy knew what the blades were for, but she turned herself to stone before her tribe was conqured by orcs.

Ivan Dogeater remembered the oracle vaguely- she prophesied the conquering and death of his tribe, but she turned herself to stone. The tribe thought that she did this to protect the tribe, but when the orcs came, it turned out that she turned herself to stone to hide from the destruction instead. Ivan recalled another young goblin, Olba Nightsoil, who fled the village the day that Jank Worldgazer turned herself to stone, she may be the last goblin besides himself of the tribe.

The party journeyed into the tunnels in search of the Grave of Dragons. During their three day journey in he maze, they came upon Olaf and Bear, a drunken orcish barbarian and his bear animal companion.

They befriended Olaf, and broght him to the grave of dragons, where they area had been cursed by the genocide committed by elven dragonslayers against the silver dragons who once lived here. They found an elf with a ring of sustenance, driven mad by centuries at the bottom of a pit with broken limbs, and an elven ghast, trying in vain to solve an unsolvable vault puzzle. They found the last two eggs of the dragon tribe, frozen in amber- hidden away because they were the result of a forbidden love between a Silver Dragon and a White Dragon. They used a scroll of stone to flesh to restore a huge stone dragon who turned out to be Balthasar the tribe leader. He rewarded the party for saving his tribe, and took the last eggs to raise them.

The party returned to Deepreach through the tunnels, bringing Olaf and Bear to competed in the Arena. Olaf had been unlocked as a guest.

Session 2: Pharast 17-22

When last we left our heroes they were inside a dungeon trying to save Faunra from a cave giant. With Nyanta catching up to them (and clearing out their return trip) they made their way through a series of traps to get to the giant's lair.

They fled the giant, leading it back up through the traps they had just bypassed, dropping a large boulder on it and causing it to twice fall down a 60' shaft, damaging it enough to kill it, but not before it killed Variel with a thrown boulder.

Faunra screamed in grief for her dead brother, and her tears activated the Harp of Souls, showing it's true power- the power to resurrect the recently dead.

The heroes helped themselves to the giant's treasure and escorted Faunra and Variel back to down.

While in town they confronted Dibbler, who apologized for giving a fake stone to them- declaring he himself had been cheated by a dishonest merchant who sold the stone to him. Ivan attempted to turn Dibbler in to the Blackguard Irregulars, but found that Dibbler's silver tongue was a forced to be reckoned with. Fortunately, Dibbler was forgiving.

An evil goblin named patches attempted to lead the PCs into some kind of trap in the tunnels, but they were wise to his antics and chased him off.

Afterwards the party heard about several groups preparing to enter the Cave in an attempt to find magical artifacts. Apparently a halfling named Zaphod Humperdink had located a very powerful artifact, and had traded it in for quite a fortune to the Chilaxian church in the city.

The party attempted to meet with Zaphoid, but he was not seeing guests. His "notes" on how he got into the cave were for sale for 1000 gp, however. The party obtained a "discounted" copy, to find that the notes were intentionally vague and misleading. They consulted their old friend Dibbler for some advice.

Dibbler pointed them towards a Tiefling Alchemist named Zeta who was the only one Zaphoid would see regularly. Tiffania attempted to gather information from Zeta, but he was on his game. Ivan tracked Zeta to a meeting, and though he didn't understand Infernal, gathered enough to understand they were doing something involving a minotaur.

The party realized that the misdirection magics on the tunnels may be able to be bypassed by a Minotaur's natural maze immunity, and Ivan snuck into the church of law to find a minotaur named Jordan locked in the basement. He revealed that they were holding is daughter hostage to force his cooperation.

The party went to the camp to free the daughter, but found she had already freed herself, having gone into a barbarian rage and broken her chains when they attempted to kill her for being "no longer useful.". The party recruited Clara to help them enter the tunnels and rescue Jordan.

Clara led them through the caves, noting that her father was purposefully leaving tracks to follow and going down extended paths to slow his group's progress. She became immediately frightened when she discovered where they were going- to a shrine of Baphomet the god of minotaurs. Were he to be bound, the priests of Asmodeus may be able to force him to reveal the entire layout of the tunnels and caves, allowing them to gain all the treasure and artifacts for themselves.

The group caught up with the Chilaxians, who used the Horn of Baphomet to summon minotaur warriors to help them, though the party had Clara and now Jordan on their side. They were able to defeat the Chilaxians and obtain the artifact.

When they got to the shrine of Baphomet they were unsure on how to destroy it, so they instead returned the horn to the statue, increasing it's power, and gaining a blessing of the Dark God Baphomet. Jordan taught the party some tricks in maze navigation and went on his way, while Clara stayed in town to start an adventuring career.

In the minotaur dungeon, they discovered several tomes written by the minotaur that lived there, describing his exploits in the tunnels. They included direction to several dungeons inside the caves that have not yet been explored:

The Demiplane of Great Magic- the tunnels led into a rift going into the private demiplane of the powerful wizard Jacob the Exploiter.
The Grave of the Dragons, - the tunnels lead into a valley in the mountainside where once lived a race of great dragons
The Summoning Chambers- a dungeon guarded by some kind of golem who seeks to have adventurers prove their worth too him
The Dungeon of Mirrors- a dungeon crafted by a wizard obsessed with light and refraction
The Clockwork Dungeon- a high level dungeon with clockwork components constructed for some unknown purpose
Genie's Gamble- a dungeon constructed by four genies on a bet.

Session 1: Pharast 1- Pharast 17

The party journeyed to the town of Deepreach to find fame and fortune in the Cave. On the way they teamed up with some other adventurers heading the same way, and helped guard a merchant delivery headed to town, and were each rewarded with a potion of cure serious wounds for their effort.

Upon reaching the town the party sought out a place to stay to form a base of operations for when they explored the cave. Being quite poor, they were only able to afford to stay in a place called the Burrows, owned by a ratfolk named Rikkon.

Rikkon was having some trouble with some humans in his basement, so the party agreed to go down and eject the squatters on his behalf. During the combat, a few squatters gave up and escaped through an open window, but they were able to witness Maria Belmont biting into a fallen comrade to eat his sin.

The Illumanati were called to retrieve the dead bodies, and Rikkon noted that the squatters had eaten and soiled much of his food supplies. The party learned that the squatters had burrowed a secret tunnel into Rikkon's inn as well as the item store next door, though that tunnel had collapsed. The party destroyed the secret entrance and agreed to stay on as hired muscle for Rikkon in exchange for free room and board.

A few days later the Illumanati returned to issue warnings to Rikkon that they would be shutting down his business due to health violations- besides dead bodies being found with his food supply, his low quality foods and frequent disposal of soiled foods left Mayor Illuminus unable to allow his business to continue. They issued him a warning and said they'd be back and he'd better be up to standard.

The party decided to help him gain a new supply of food and gathered information using Lady Belmont's underground contacts. They discovered that the guilds had monopolized the suppliers and were trying to get The Burrows closed down in order to gain his real estate. The party learned that guild had recently been successful in closing down an alchemy shop called Infusions. Ms. Moonblade identified that suppliers to alchemy shops could easily be converted to supply for restaurants.

They went to infusions and found that the owner, a gnome named Lini had closed the store and sold the business to Al-Chema, a guild alchemy store that was working towards a monopoly. Her supplies had dried up and she worried about her supplier who is also a personal friend. She was packing up and was able to manipulate the sale of her store to protect her alchemy trade secrets and supplies. The party agreed to go with her to check on her supplier and try to convince him to supply foods to the Burrows.

On the way they were beset by bandits. The party learned that they had been hired by Al-Chema to steal Lini's supplied and alchemy formulas. They captured the bandit leader, questioned him, and eventually let him go. They arrived at the supplier's farm to meet Zarzuket, the gnome sorcerer who grows the crops, and Scout, his brownie familiar.

Zarzuket indicated that some blighted fey were attacking his crops. He was easily able to drive them off, but he can't leave his farm to deliver shipments while this is going on, and he cant hunt down their nest and leave his farm unattended. Scout was able to find the nest, but as a brownie she wasn't able to do anything against them. The party agreed to go the nest, kill the blighted fey there, and destroy the nest in order to disburse the fey.

The party was able to defeat some blighted hobkins thanks to some cold iron weapon blanche Lini cooked up and a cold iron short sword given by Zarzuket. They burned the dead tree they were nesting in, and were able to load up a shipment on Lini's cart. They returned to town and were able to provide Rikkon with excellent quality ingredients to allow him to pass his inspections. Rikkon, being a master chef and brewmaster, was able to utilize the ingredients to put his bar on the map, attracting more clientele. Lini set up shop in the basement and ran an alchemy store out of there, and used her master contract skills to avoid further guild entanglements.

After a few days of high business with the party acting as bouncers, an elvish bard named Faunra began entertaining at the Burrows, with a sultry song and dance routine that brought many big spenders into the Burrows.

Ivan Dogeater and Tiffiania Moonblade showed special interest in Faunra, and talked her up most of the night, learning that she was an adventurer who had come to town to find someone- that she had a warrior brother who was out of town at the moment- and despite their best efforts, was too busy in the late evenings to do any private entertainment.

The next evening, Ivan was angrily accosted by Variel- Faunra's brother.
Variel indicate that someone came to his sister's room late last night and now she is missing, and he knows some goblin had been flirting with her, and even inquiring as to her romantic tastes. The group decided to help Variel find his sister. Searching her room they found that Faunra was obsessed with locating a magical instrument called the Harp of Souls, which she speculated could be used by incorporeal creatures and had great power, but she was unaware as to its specific uses. She was in communication with an individual known as "D" who she was paying to locate the harp for her. The last known location was inside the Cave in the possession of an adventurer who was not seen coming back out of the caves.

The PC located some Tunnels directions, and went with Variel in search of his sister.

In the tunnels, the PCs stumbled upon some disenchanters eating magical items off some dead wizards, and later saw that the tunnels behind them had caved in, which would make the way back difficult. Then they ran into Dibbler, who was fleeing from some mercenaries. Dibbler had a silver goblet with the name "Sylvia" engraved on it. He insisted that it's his sister's heirloom and that the guards were trying to steal it from them, while the guards insisted that he stole it and they were trying to retrieve it from him.

After examining the chalice, Lady Belmont was convinced that Dibbler was a fine upstanding fellow, and turned the mercenaries away from him. He gratefully thanked her, offering her a Stone of Good Luck for her troubles, then left the tunnels to return to town. Suspicious, Tiffiania examined the stone to find that it was a normal rock with Magic Aura cast on it, and the party suspected that perhaps Dibbler stole that goblet after all. Lady Belmont, prideful, vowed to find Dibbler and settle up accounts for being made a fool of.

The party continued to follow the directions to get to a dungeon opening. Ivan was able to squeeze down a hole in the floor to see that Faunra had found the Harp of Souls, and was using it to fascinate some kind of giant who had killed the cloaked figure as well as another group of adventurers. No one else could fit down the hole, so the party decided to try to find the other way through the dungeon to rescue Faunra from the monster. The party had just defeated a group of giant spider when...
