Guest Characters

Throughout your adventure, you may unlock special "Guest" characters. These characters are NPCs that may be willing to journey with you as an ally on certain missions.

Each Guest character counts as a "person" on the mission for the purposes of divvying up XP, and only 1 "guest" can come at a time. (Though some guests may have special abilities allowing you to bring two at once!). Obviously having no guest with you will increase your overall experience output and potentially increase the value of moneys awarded.

A guest also has an alignment, personality, and "cost". They will react to things in normally based on their alignment, and their "cost" is something that bringing them along is assumed agreed to. They may also have special abilities unique to them (based on the quest that unlocks them).

UNLOCKED GUEST CHARACTERS

Lini (Gnome Alchemist- Crafting Path)  LG

Personality: Lini is very clever when it comes to business and negotiating, manipulating contracts and laws for the benefit of her business. She is one of few non-guild members able to run a successful alchemy business, though she values her friends more than her business profits.

Benefit: Lini can no longer go adventuring as she is now too busy with NPC business.

Requirement: Lini is tolerant of other worldviews, but does not want to associate with evil behavior. Lini wants her party to negotiate with evildoers when possible, help people in need, and not rob, murder, or commit gross crimes. Failure to adhere to this can cause you to lose Lini's contact as an NPC contact.

NPC:Lini will sell the party alchemical creations at 1/2 price, and craft up to 2nd level potions (from the alchemist list) for 75% base price. Lini has access to the Master Alchemist feat which allows her to craft alchemical items much more quickly. Lini has spent considerable resources allowing her to use divinations and ring gates to get contacts to create magical items. As a result, Lini has ANY base item available immediately at 5% markup (no wait time). Items that need to be enhanced can be done so at 5% markup, and will be improved at 4x speed (+5 for crafting faster and using cooperative crafting feats).

Faunra and Variel: CG Elf Bard Leadership Path (Variel is Faunra's Cohort- CG Elf Fighter).

Personality: Variel is very protective of his sister, and gets overly aggressive against any threats against her, real or perceived. Faunra is more level headed, and believes that music is quite literally a bridge between the prime and the heavens- she believes that there exists bardic magic of tiers 7-9 just like wizard magic, and seeks magical musical performance and items in order to help herself unlock these.

Benefit: The Harp of Souls- The harp of souls allows Faunra to cast raise dead on party members without need of a material component. The harp of souls was stolen and is not usable.

Requirement: Faunra requires first dibs on any magical musical instruments or performances, and Variel requires a share of the treasure as well- so they count as 2 people for dividing treasure (but only 1 for dividing XP).

NPC: They provide no special benefit while not adventuring with the party.

Dibbler: CE Human "Something" (Rogue maybe- he's not very forthcoming) (Mythic Path)

Personality: Dibbler is friendly to those he has business with, and he is extremely persuasive. However, every action is in some way planned, and he is only truly interested in his own well being.

Benefit: No special benefit.

Requirement: If you travel with Dibbler, he wants it to be worth his while. Dibbler will not be satisfied if you leave treasure behind, destroy magic, or act an a way that does not optimize the material gain in a mission. If he finds any treasure himself, he might forget to mention it.

NPC: While not adventuring, Dibbler is a strong resource in town. He can be paid for gossip and rumors relevant to the party's current predicament in town, often pointing the PCs in the right way to go if they are stumped.

Clara: CN Half-Minotaur Ranger/Barbarian (Ghestalt Path)

Personality: Clara is cute and amiable, very inquisitive and curious, having not spent much time above ground. However, when enraged she goes into a frenzy, and might forget who her friends are...

Benefit: Clara's mintotaur heritage gives her a natural ability to travel in mazes. The party can choose to ignore any random tunnels encounters, and they can always find the quickest way back home when they travel with Clara.

Requirement: While there is no specific requirement that Clara asks, it may not be healthy for the party of something bad happens to Clara, as her minotaur father may not be very understanding...

NPC: Clara provides no special NPC benefits when not adventuring.

Olaf and Bear: CN Orc Barbarian/Hunter (Ghestalt Path) with Bear animal companion.

Personality: Olaf is keen to extreme mood swings, which is exacerbated by his constant intake of alcohol. He even keeps is bear drunk. He can be very friendly, and enjoys all manner of competition. If angered he is a force to be reckoned with, and he will not break off a combat until one side is dead.

Benefit: Olaf's loud natured and large physique, coupled with the fact that he travels with a bear companion means that sneaky nighttime raids are unlikely to happen. When camping Olaf greatly reduces the chance of night time ambushes, as most creatures don't want to tangle with a big orc and a bear.

Requirement: As long as there is plenty to drink Olaf is happy, but once combat begins it must be seen to its conclusion. Olaf will take no surrender, no pleas for mercy, no escape. No one attacks Olaf more than once. Either Olaf dies, or his attacker dies.

NPC: While not travelling with the party, Olaf and Bear fight in the arena. Because Olaf keeps what he kills, and finds little use for much of the gear, he will sell any weapons and armor from slain foes to the party at 1/2 price.

Sanders:
N Human Ninja (Mythic Path)

Personality: Sanders is a master of the Shuriken and prefers to attack from stealth to get off his sneak attacks. He has no master of disarming, and as such, prefers to hang out near the back. He is very careful, and does not enjoy rushing into things or taking a frontline stand in combat.

Benefit: Sanders is a master scout and can be used to scout ahead or spy on locations if needed.

Requirements: Sanders does not want to act hastily, and dislikes frontal assaults when a surgical strike would work better. He won't fight on the front line if he can avoid it, and prefers to take cover behind other party members. He is not cowardly, but will get frustrated if the PCs aren't fulfilling their "roles" and wants those roles to be clearly defined.

NPC: Sanders can scout out and get some basic information about dungeons back to the party as long as the party promises to take him along (or at least give him a share of loot) when they get back.

Alice Gryphbane
LG Stonelord Paladin (Focused Path)

Personality: She is a dedicated and loyal person, and works as a good tank. She has an earth elemental companion creature called Grignak. She is interested in uncovering the reason the Cave came into being, recognizing it as not a regular megadungeon.

Benefit: Alice does not need a full share of treasure, whatever you think is fair is fine by her.

Requirement: As a paladin, she insists that the tenants of the paladin are not compromised. She also wants to destroy any evil items or items of evil gods.

NPC: She has no special NPC benefits.

Gary
NE Homunculus (Crafting Path)

Gary is a silent Homunculus sent to Ivan as a servant after freeing a Green Hag from an eternal time stop.

Guest: Gary is not combat ready and will not adventure as a guest.

Requirements: Gary does not speak. Gary is a homunculus made by a Green Hag and told to obey Ivan. Gary has no opinions on anything.

NPC: Gary can craft magical items at 2x speed (+5 to spellcraft to craft faster). He can craft 24 hours per day, but only 8 hours per day on 1 project, so he can craft 3 items at a time. He can only craft Wonderous Items. He crafts at Craft Cost- with no markup.

Grig Wormslayer
LN Wizard (Crafting Path)

A deep dwarf who was captured by ratlings and forced to make scrolls, he now hangs out in the top levels of the Tunnels to craft items for the party for wealth. He was converted from Evil by Lady Belmont.

Guest: Grig will not adventure with the party.

NPC: Grig will craft items at purchase price at standard speed for the party.

Rikkon
N Expert (Pathless)

A ratfolk owner of the Burrows.

Guest: Rikkon is not an adventurer.

NPC: Rikkon provides the PCs (and several other guests) room and board for free at the burrows.

While staying at the burrows, the PCs can enjoy Goodberry Wine, which heals 8 HP per day above their normal daily healing.

Once the party reaches 10th level, Rikkon will be able to prepare Hero's Feasts, with the benefits of that spell to people staying in the tavern. PCs who do not stay in the tavern overnight do not gain the benefits.

Because he is capable of creating the Confection Infiniuum, Rikkon can now sell Magic Confections (potions) at cost. PCs staying at the Burrows can now gain the benefit of Visualization of the Mind OR Visualization of the Body by eating the improved food.
