The 5 Paths

Each character chooses one adventuring path to follow, which affects how he levels up.

By default:
  • No character my have a cohort. Animal companions, familiars, and eidolons are okay. Other cohort like class features (like a thrallherd's thrall or an undead cohort) are not allowed, and those classes will lose those class features unless you are on the leadership path.
  • Potions, Wands, and Scrolls are the only magical items that can be crafted (and the character must get the item creation feats in order to do so, as normal). The Magic Path allows for the crafting of other magical items.
  • A character with the Bonded Item class feature may enchant his bonded item. An amulet can be enchanted as a wonderous item. A ring may be enchanted as a ring. A staff may be enchanted as a staff, but not as a weapon. A wand may be enchanted as a wand. A weapon may be enchanted as a weapon. No cross-enchanting of different types.

The Gestalt Path
The character levels up as a gestalt character.
  • Levelling up will use fractional progression (to avoid level sequencing).
  • Prestige classes that are effectively gestalt already will not be allowed. (To avoid triple classing).
  • Prestige classes cannot be levelled up together, you can have prestige on 1 side and a normal class on the other side, but not getstalt on both sides at once.
  • You can't have multiple familiars, animal companions, etc. You can have 1 of each, but not 2 familiars.

Mythic Path

  • Character begins as a rank 1 mythic character.
  • At 5th level, and every 5 levels thereafter, the character will gain a mythic tier during level up.
  • The character can also gain mythic tiers by completing mythic trials.
  • Mythic trials carry over if you gain a mythic tear via 5th levels. However, the requirement might go up based on your new tier. (See the table). Typically, the destruction of mythic magical items, artifacts, or other mythic enemies of a higher tier than you can qualify as mythic trials. Other in game options for mythic trials may become available.

Leadership Path

At 1st level, the character gains the service of a level 1 cohort, as if through the leadership feat. The cohort has no "path""- and thus cannot craft magical items, gain mythic tiers, or be gestalt. That cohort is a level 1 commoner.
At 2nd level the cohort becomes a level 1 character of whatever class you decide to assign him.
At 4th level, the cohort becomes level 2, and at that point the cohort begins levelling up with you, always remaining 2 levels below you.
At 7th level the character gains leadership as a bonus feat: the cohort you already have is the cohort that comes with this feat.
If you get a class feature that provides you with an alternate type of cohort, you can trade in your current cohort for that one.

Crafting Path

  • This character is allowed to craft magical items other than Potions, Wands, or Scrolls.
  • He gains the following item crafting feats as bonus feats as soon as he meets the prerequisites:  Craft Wonderous Item, Craft Wand, Craft Arms and Armor, Forge Ring, Craft Rod, Craft Staff. Other crating feats (such as Craft Construct) must be taken normally.
  • You must qualify for the feats, so a fighter would need master craftsman in order to qualify for certain feats, and an alchemist could only qualify for brew potion as he isn't an actual spell caster. Thus this class is best suited for full casting classes.
  • If you get an item crafting feat through a class feature that this path gives you- you can take a free metamagic feat you qualify for instead.
Focused Path

The Focused path doesn't gain any of the benefits of the other paths, he can only create potions, wands, or scrolls as magical equipment, and cannot have cohorts. However, he gets a +20% XP bonus, and begins play at level 2. (With level 2 wealth). A template cannot be chosen in place of a level.
